Catalina’s Bakeshop & Cafe sits right along Rizal Avenue in Puerto Princesa City, offering a welcoming spot that blends the bustle of the city with a relaxed, approachable dining experience. While it’s primarily known as a restaurant, there’s an unmistakable bakery vibe here, especially with the unmistakable aroma of freshly baked cream puffs greeting you the moment you step inside.

This place works well whether you’re after a casual lunch or an afternoon break with a coffee and pastry. The atmosphere is clean and cozy, with a friendly staff that makes you feel at ease, perfect for groups looking to share sizable servings or for locals dropping in for a quick, flavorful meal.

The menu leans into Filipino favorites but with some thoughtful twists — think thick, rich sauces on classic dishes like karekare and comforting, shareable plates like pancit palabok and seafood pansit. Grilled meats, such as their chicken BBQ and pork sampler, are grilled just right with flavorful sauces that pair well with their java rice platters. For those looking for something lighter or snack-like, their house-made pandesal stuffed with corned beef or kesong puti offers a filling bite during merienda hours.

The real standout, however, is the bakery side — especially their cream puffs. These are crafted with a crisp, buttery shell that balances the rich, sometimes inventive fillings. Flavors like buko, dulce de leche, and ube coco show a local touch, making these cream puffs popular take-home pasalubong from Puerto Princesa. Locals and visitors alike often pick up boxes to share, with the “Box of 7” variety offering a neat sampler of their top flavors.

Visiting Catalina’s is well-suited for midday and late afternoon, when the bakery smell draws you in and the warm dishes feel most satisfying. Whether you’re a family sharing a hearty pansit or a solo diner craving a well-prepared chicken inasal paired with a cappuccino, the setting here encourages relaxed meals without pretension.

Overall, Catalina’s delivers a straightforward, dependable Filipino dining and bakery spot where locals appreciate big portions, familiar flavors, and something sweet to round off the meal. The mix of a cozy indoor space, approachable menu, and friendly staff rounds out the experience as a place where everyday and special-occasion meals comfortably coexist.

Ordered pancit palabok, lumpiang shanghai, kare-kare, bbq sampler, and java rice. Pancit palabok tastes ok. Kare-kare is too sweet but loved the thickness of the sauce. Lumpiang shanghai fried just right crispy outside but juicy inside. Very nice BBQ sauce for the sampler. You can eat it as it is or dip it in vinegar. Pork and chicken were grilled just right. Solid cream puffs. Recommend to eat it fresh. Service took long - around 45 minutes (8:30 ~ 9:15pm). If applying for discount, make sure to review the receipt. We have a senior and pwd but they only applied 1 pax discount. Hope they can improve their service time.

At Catalina’s Bakeshop & Cafe, the cream puffs are widely considered the "star of the show" and are a must-try for anyone visiting Puerto Princesa. Catalina’s Signature Cream Puffs Known for their "perfect crunch" and buttery pastry, these aren't your typical soft cream puffs. They are often purchased as pasalubong (souvenirs) because of their unique flavors and texture. • Top Recommendation: The Buko Puff is the undisputed bestseller, featuring a creamy young coconut filling that highlights local Palawan flavors. • Other Popular Flavors: * Kasuy Cheesecake: Uses Palawan’s famous cashews. • Nutella and Dulce de Leche for those who prefer classic sweets. • Ube Coco and Calamansi for a Filipino twist.

We ordered chicken inasal for lunch ( we forget to take a picture coz super hungry! ) but it was good, we got lots of extra vinegar as well and all the staffs are happy to give us. There puffs are super good, as in the hype is worth it. We tried the buko, nuttella and ube ( dine in) and also we take out for Manila. The store is clean and cozy as well! Will definitely go back once we visit Palawan again!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Catalina’s Bakeshop & Cafe is a gem! Everything is fresh, flavorful, and made with care. I love that they serve all-day breakfast, which is perfect no matter what time you stop by. Their well-known Puffborito absolutely lives up to the hype—crispy, filling, and so satisfying. Great food, cozy atmosphere, and friendly service. Definitely a spot worth coming back to!

Catalina’s Restaurant in Puerto Princesa is a must-visit if you’re craving classic Filipino comfort food done right. Their liempo is incredibly juicy with a perfect smoky char that hits you at first bite, while the chicken barbecue is tender, flavorful, and marinated all the way through. Both dishes are served fresh off the grill and pair perfectly with their homemade dipping sauces. The portions are generous, the prices are budget-friendly, and the staff are warm and attentive. Whether you’re a local or a traveler exploring Palawan, Catalina’s delivers a simple but satisfying meal that’s worth returning to every time.

One of the best restaurants during our time in the Philippines! We tried the lamayong lapu lapu, seafood palabok, squid with olive oil (the sauce in the dish!!!!), ube and calamansi buko. Recommend all of these. Coffee wise great as well, tried the piccolo latte and dark chocolate tablea with oat milk. Staff are great!
